Founded by Pauline Clarke in 2005, Bush Essentials started producing its legendary body scrub from a converted garage in Twin Waters on the beautiful Australian Sunshine Coast. Ms Clarke would manufacture on Mondays and Tuesdays and then sell in the local markets. The first outlets were at Eumundi, Nambour, Coolum and Caloundra.
The product was an instant success, not only for moisturising and promoting healthy looking skin naturally, but also moisturising of dry itchy skin, cracked heels, working hands and neutralising body odour. The product sales reflected the growing popularity of the product and the company turned over more than A$1 million in the first year of business. Repeat orders from buyers, referrals and enquiries came in from all over Australia and around the world and fuelled the company's rapid growth. To keep up with the demand, in 2006 Bush Essentials moved into a new factory in Kunda Park with room for further expansion which was mainly prompted by the first export order to the UK.
In just over a year, growth from those humble beginnings has been phenomenal. Bush Essentials now trades in more than 55 markets in all Australian states, with casual leasing in shopping centres and is a regular at agricultural and health and wellbeing shows.
Bush Essentials is also sold in the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Sweden, Hong Kong, Germany, Mauritius and are in dealings with Japan and China.
I believe the reason for our success is that I chose to market my products in the local markets and demonstrate the product directly onto the customer, rather just off the shelf. Customers get to see, feel, touch and smell. They can see how good the products are before they buy and their testimonials speak for themselves, Ms Clarke said".
